Thomas (Tom) Andrew Coyle was actually born (on the eight of August 1964, making him a Leo according to astrology and the zodiac) in England. Luton, Bedfordshire to be precise. That shall not be held against him for Saint Patrick was also foreign born yet beloved on the emerald isle. Saint Patrick banished snakes from our shores and Thomas Coyle now does the same with ped's.
After much youthful soul searching Thomas decided to become a member of the thin blue line. He joined An Garda Síochána. To this day if you look at Tom's shoes they are always well polished.
When he was not protecting the public from myriad villains and threats to moral decency Tom earned himself not one but five degrees in management, two of which are Masters degrees. Strong, brainy and good looking is our Tom. He also found enough time to fall in love with and marry Cathy and together they produced three children; Gearoid, Diarmuid & Cathy number 2.
Tom lectures in economics and Law for the Institute of Public Administration. He is a Security Consultant and has lectured for years in the Dublin Institute of Technology in Security Management. He has recently completed a research degree in Occupational Culture with the D.I.T. and will be providing a consultancy service to businesses from 2014. So, if you need help and the A-Team is unavailable why not call Tom?
Tom was bitten by the iron bug way back in 1991, he entered the Ulster Powerlifting Championship which was held in Emyvale, County Monaghan and won his category. In 2004 Tom joined the IDFPA. He went on to become a national referee and soon became an international referee. He found the blazer and tie most becoming.
In 2006 he hosted the National bench-press in Castleblayney, this was followed by the National Power in 2007, the European Power in 2008, the World Power in 2010 and the European Power again in 2013. In 2008 Thomas was elected to the WDFPF Technical Committee. He also sits on the WDFPF Discipline Committee. In 2007 he became President of the Irish Drug-Free Powerlifting Association.
Tom's favourite and strongest lift is the deadlift. He is currently training hard to have a tilt at the M2 deadlift world record. He almost had it at the World Single lifts 2013, held in Antwerp.
Toms assumption of the role of president coincided with a dip in the IDFPA's fortunes which Tom successfully battled and now the membership and association is in its strongest position ever. Tom has overseen the associations move onto facebook and its use of a new website, twitter and instagram. His record as an official, his powerlifting record and his dedication to the IDFPA have propelled Tom into the Hall Of Fame. Tom Coyle is a worthy and illustrious addition to those ranks.
Congratulations to Thomas Coyle on his induction into the Hall Of Fame. Thank you for everything El Presidente and best of luck in the future.
